Dr. Ann Marie D’Angelo PMHCNS-BC is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and a board certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Geriatric Specialist. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a Master’s degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Columbia University, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Adelphi University, and an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Nassau Community College.
Dr. D’Angelo is an adjunct professor at Adelphi University with many years of experience teaching nursing courses. She has also taught nursing at NYU, Nassau Community College, and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. She is a past board member and continuing active member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society. She has ongoing memberships in the American Psychiatric Nursing Association, Geriatric Advanced Practice Nursing Association, Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Association, National League of Nurses, and a bi-level membership in the American Nursing Association.
Dr. Ann Marie D’Angelo has a private practice in advanced practice nurse care management, geriatrics, individual, and family therapy, and marriage counseling. She has provided nurse care management and consultation services for over thirty years to individuals, and families assisting them in short and long term care planning. As an Advanced Practice Nurse Care Manager, she is typically asked to intervene in complex clinical situations, to clarify options, identify resources, and advocate for services needed in order to implement a caring and thorough plan.
Dr. Ann Marie D’Angelo uses research-based tools to identify healthcare needs. She is New York State certified to administer the PRI and Screen, the forms that are used to determine nursing home placement. She frequently administers the Mini-Mental Status Exam (a cognitive evaluation tool), and other evaluation tools to identify the client’s care level and needs. Dr. D’Angelo develops long and short term plans based on these evaluations to help clients remain at home or go to the best possible facility for their individual care needs.
